Botanic Garden

The garden has been described as a 'hidden gem' of Scotland .

About 8000 species of ferns, herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees are grown here!

The Project:

To clear, prune, prepare, plant and present a new woodland glade. This is a high profile garden area by the entrance that we wish to develop in a beautiful ecological planting showing woodland edge habitats.

Throughout 2016 and 2017...

It will involve significant hard manual work over the winter as the site is levelled and prepared. Tree surgeons will remove 4-8 mature trees and a significant pruning or other shrubs will take place.
At the same time, a designer will work to produce a planting plan for the area.
Next spring, soil preparation, turf renewal and planting will take place throughout the area. By next summer a complete gardena area will be refurbished – the first major garden development for 20 years.

The garden is a great way for people to get involved in giving back to the local community, meeting new people along the way and getting a good workout in the process!
